History of Muni

Asheville Muni Legacy

The first public golf course in North Carolina and the first municipal course to be racially integrated in the Southeast, the 18-hole golf course was designed by Hall of Fame golf architect Donald Ross and opened for play in 1927. It has served as the primary public golf course in Western North Carolina since its construction, as a place to learn the game and compete on a very high level, and since 1954 serving a diverse golf community.

The Asheville Muni is one of the few Donald Ross courses without significant renovations since it construction and Friends of Muni fervently believe in its untapped potential and the long-term advantages of its restoration and upkeep.
