WHO WE ARE
The City of Asheville owns Muni. Commonwealth Golf Partners runs it. Friends of Asheville Muni is the volunteer nonprofit that funds the projects that make it more than a place to play golf.
What FOAM Has Built
Your $50 turns into real things on the course.
We are all volunteers, so membership and gifts do not go to overhead. They go to projects you can walk out and see. Here is some of what the Friends has invested in and supported.
Youth & Community Golf
Clubs to lend to youth players who need a set, funded by grants from our partners.
Habitat Restoration
Acres of land seeded with wildflowers, and a native slope funded by a gift from the City & Commonwealth Golf Partners.
Course Improvements
New benches at the back-nine tees and a full restroom renovation, making Muni an even better place to play.
Helene Recovery
Working with Muni and partners to restore the front nine that were destroyed by Hurricane Helene in September 2024.

Muni opened in 1927 as a Donald Ross design, the first public municipal course in the Carolinas, and in 1954 it became one of the first municipal courses in the Southeast to integrate. It was built for the public and it still plays like it: affordable, walkable, and open to everyone.
When Hurricane Helene sent the Swannanoa River through the front nine in 2024, the course turned the hardest page in its history. FOAM is here to help it come back strong, and to keep it public for the next hundred years.
